THE EFF CALLS ON THE GOVERNMENT TO GIVE THE PEOPLE OF MALAMULELE THEIR OWN MUNICIPALITY
03 February 2015
The Economic Freedom Fighters reiterated its supports for the ongoing struggle in Malamulele where people are demanding a separate Municipality. The EFF also rejects the report of the Demarcation Board which refused to give the people of Malamulele their own Municipality.
At its formative stages, the EFF was the first and only political party which convened a genuine community meeting in Malamulele to listen to the people of Malamulele and their concerns on lack of service delivery. That is why the EFF is the only political organisation to unapologetically commit in its elections manifesto that we will give Malamulele its own municipality, because it was genuinely informed by the interactions with the Malamlele people on the ground.
Our basis for supporting a separate Malamulele Municipality is that such a municipality should be accompanied by economic development programmes and opportunities which will create jobs for the people of Malamulele. In addition, for more than 20 years, there has not been provision of bulk Services in Malamulele which should necessarily be provided by any given municipality and we do not believe that the ANC will provide solutions anytime soon.
The EFF would like to further remind the people of Malamulele that just before elections, the ANC promised them a Municipality and now failing to deliver on such a commitment. Jacob Zuma even went to Malamulele stadium to promise the people a Municipality and true to his track-record of failed promises, he has failed the people of Malamulele.
