Government walking the talk on corruption - Radebe
9 December 2016
Pretoria - Minister in the Presidency Jeff Radebe on Friday praised government’s work in fighting corruption, saying it was walking the talk.
Over the past three years, the Special Investigating Unit (SIU) had recovered cash or assets to the value of R204m, and managed to have contracts to the value of R755m invalidated and set aside, he said at an International Anti-Corruption day event at Unisa in Pretoria.
"That is walking the talk," said Radebe.
Radebe said President Jacob Zuma, who was spearheading the fight against corruption, had signed 27 proclamation orders since April 2013. These empowered the SIU to investigate serious cases of malpractice, maladministration, and corruption.
