Musa Zondi says police unit aims to nab six more crime bosses in seven days

Another cash-in-transit mastermind bites the dust

It's four down and six to go as the Hawks crack team nabs another cash-in-transit heist mastermind.

This is a project that has received the full backing and support of the police top brass in the person of National Commissioner Bheki Cele.

The latest arrest at the weekend (Saturday 2am) by the SAPS Directorate of Priority Crime Investigations team of Donald Duma Sigasa brings the team closer to their target of ten (ten) most wanted cash robberies kingpins in two weeks with seven more days to go.

The police team is now looking at consolidating their success and apply for the confiscation of the illegal proceeds through working closely with the Asset Forfeiture Unit. To this end, police have been greatly assisted by some of those who have been arrested have already supplied them with valuable information relating to their activities.

Sigasa has been positively linked to at least seven cash in transit heist operations stretching from 2001 to last year. These include robberies in in Mondeor in 2001, Tsakane 2006, Thokoza 2007, Boksburg north twice in 2007, Eesterus in 2009 and Katlehong in 2009.

He also escaped from lawful custody in 2002 from Witbank.

More cases may be added to his tally including charges of attempted murder and robbery with a firearm that the police have been hunting him for. In one of the cases, he is linked to another mastermind that the police would like to interview, one Happy Mosia. Police are hoping that he would give himself up as the net is closing on him - fast.

A number of cellphones and sim cards were confiscated when police nabbed him at his townhouse in Boksburg North.
