DA rescues Beaufort West in historic outright victory and retains wards in Cape Town

The Democratic Alliance (DA) made history today by winning three wards from the PA and ANC in by-elections held in Beaufort West and Murraysburg. Not only did the DA win the three wards today, but support for the party increased substantially. This marks the first time that the Beaufort West Municipality will be governed outright by the DA.
This victory ushers in a turning point for the municipality which has for years been wrought with corruption, mismanagement and poor service delivery. The DA has a proven track-record of good, clean governance and we are committed to fix what has been broken and rescue Beaufort West.
We congratulate newly elected councillors October Haarvoor (Ward 1), Gina Duimpies (Ward 3), and Elvico Links (Ward 6). The election of a new DA mayor will take place in due course.
The results in Beaufort West are as follows:

DA – 42,02% - 858 votes (2021 – 30,29% - 636 votes)
ANC – 38,93% - 795 votes (2021 – 35,90% - 754 votes)
EFF – 2,40% - 49 votes (2021 – 0,38% - 8 votes)
KDF – 7,64% - 156 votes (2021 - 16,57% - 348 votes)
INDP (Skuza) – 9,01% - 184 votes (2021 - did not contest)
Poll % - 54,72%

DA – 41,08% - 1016 votes (2021 – 18,29% - 431 votes)
ANC – 18,56% - 459 votes (2021 – 30,39% - 716 votes)
EFF – 0,12% - 3 votes (2021 - 0,47% - 11 votes)
PA – 17,67% - 437 votes (2021 – 42,95% - 1012 votes)
ARA – 9,54% - 236 votes (2021 - Did not contest)

The DA is also very pleased to announce that we retained Wards 64, 105 and 113 in the City of Cape Town today with a significant increase in support.
Under the DA, the City of Cape Town is the best-run metro in the country, and the results today reflect the trust voters have in the party. Support for the DA in the metro grew at the National and Provincial Elections on 29 May 2024, and today’s results confirm that Capetonians chose the DA to continue to deliver to residents.

DA – 97,64% - 5575 votes
ANC – 1,37% - 78 votes
EFF – 1,00% - 57 votes

DA - 89.04% - 4225 votes
ANC - 8.35% - 396 votes
EFF - 2.61% - 124 votes
Poll % - 25.57%
Ward 113
DA - 97.96% - 3605 votes
ANC - 0.79% - 29 votes
EFF - 0.95% - 35 votes
ARA - 0.30% - 11 votes
Poll % - 19.94%
