YCLSA worried by utterances attributed to King Zwelithini
The Young Communist League of South Africa [uFasimba] is once again concerned by utterances that were made by King Goodwill Zwelithini last week. The King allegedly said he wants more power and to have sole control of the National Heritage Day Celebration.
We want to remind the King that he was never elected by anyone therefore demanding for more power is unnecessary. Respect is never demanded but earned and the King would have to treat us with respect in order for us to respect him back. If he seriously wants more power then he should consider running for elections.
We also hold a view that his R56 Million annual budget is too much and should be cut down. That is way too much money to give to one individual in a country ravaged by poverty, unemployment and inequalities. Some of that money can be invested into education seeing that many young people from previously disadvantaged backgrounds don't have access to higher education because of lack of funds.
The YCLSA also calls for the decentralization of service providers to his events. Most of the tenders to supply goods and services are usually reserved for his wives. Tax payers money cannot continue to be handed over to those who are already well off while we have many co-operatives that could use those funds correctly.
We are also calling for the outcomes of the Human Rights Commission investigation to the King to be released as soon as possible.
