IFP WELCOMES SWIFT POLICE ACTION IN RICHMOND FARM MURDERS
IFP KZN Shadow Minister for Agriculture and Rural Development, Mr Henry Combrinck, today expressed shock at the murders of Evart Schutte, his wife Elizabeth and their son Lutz on their farm near Richmond on Sunday, 2 March 2014 (see Sapa report).
Mr Combrinck said, "This horrific attack on an elderly couple and their son on their farm near Richmond has shocked us all and rocked the close knit community of Richmond."
"The IFP again wants to reiterate our stance that the safety and security of our farming communities is of the utmost importance as any threat to normal farming activity has an impact on our country's economy and food security. It is further essential to ensure more visible policing in farming areas to act as a deterent," Mr Combrinck said.
"The swift action of the SAPS in arresting three suspects and also recovering evidence including the Schutte's cellular phones, is welcomed by the IFP," Mr Combrinck continued.
