Two-way passengers through the CTIA international terminal increase by 64% compared to Jan – Aug 2022

Two-way passengers through the Cape Town International Airport’s (CTIA) international terminal remained strong between January and August 2023, reaching more than 1.7 million passengers in the year to date, exceeding pre-pandemic levels by 107% and growing by 64% compared to January and August 2022.
Two-way passengers through George Airport reached 511 919 between January and August 2023, representing a 3% year-on-year increase compared to January and August 2022.
This is according to the monthly tourism report, compiled by the Western Cape Government’s (WCG) trade, investment, and tourism promotion agency, Wesgro.
“The tourism and hospitality sector, despite going through very difficult times, keeps bouncing back, showing such grit that pays dividends down the line for so many in the Western Cape.” said provincial Minister of Finance and Economic Opportunities, Mireille Wenger.
