Our Board and management express their deepest gratitude to all those who worked through the night to coordinate the rescue and clearing operations. We also thank the public for their compassion and understanding during this incredibly difficult and tragic time.

We have, over the course of the day, made contact and met with the families of the diseased. We have also spoken with a number of the injured and will ensure they, and all affected parties, are receiving the necessary care and monitor their recovery. Over the next period, we will work closely with a team of independent counselling and trauma practitioners to ensure they are given all appropriate assistance.

The M1 was reopened at around 3pm today.

There are a number of investigations underway to determine the cause or causes of the collapse of the bridge support structure. At this point, we are unable to comment on how long the investigations will take and when they will conclude and we once again appeal to the public to await the outcome. We are as concerned as everyone to understand what happened, and commit to sharing information as soon as the investigation is complete.
