KPMG forensic report doesn't exit - KPMG

Danie van Heerden says no such audit was conducted in labour dept

No such KPMG report or forensic investigation at the Department of Labour

Alleged KPMG forensic audit report referred to in recent media articles doesn't exist

Following the media release issued by the Department of Labour on 8 June 2010 ("Mdladlana denies knowledge of KPMG report") and recent articles in the press regarding this matter, KPMG wishes to place the following on record:

(1) KPMG has never issued a report regarding the Department of Labour "that had unearthed massive fraud and corruption". This is entirely consistent with Labour Minister Membathisi Mdladlana's adamant denial of any knowledge of such an audit report being commissioned by his Department.

(2) While KPMG has been engaged to perform certain professional services with regard to the Department of Labour, for the past few years none of these have included the commissioning of any forensic investigations.

Any reference in the media to such a KPMG forensic audit report is therefore factually incorrect.
