Media statement on media allegations about corrupt awarding of tenders
The Limpopo provincial government wishes to distance itself away from allegations that its tendering procedures are riddled with corruption. For the record, media allegations that suggest that certain personalities are able to meddle with awarding of tenders illegally in the province are both misleading and incorrect.
We wish to call upon anybody who has evidence to the contrary to approach the law enforcement agencies in support of the government-led fight against crime and corruption.
Our provincial government has scaled up its offensive against corruption by, among others; facilitating the process to blacklist approximately 40 companies through the national Treasury for building shoddy RDP houses in the past. Government has also laid off almost 44 officials for fraud and corruption.
It is against this backdrop that we want to assure members of the public that we have stringent control measure and systems in place to ward off criminality of any kind to stain our good governance in general and the tendering procedures in particular.
We are committed to work together with all institutions through the provincial Anti-Corruption Forum to ensure that corrupt elements both in the private and public sectors face the full wrath of law.
