SACP STATEMENT ON FASHION POLICE REMARKS AND SUBSEQUENT MEDIA COVERAGE
The SACP notes the latest media outbreak associated with remarks of Central Committee member and ANC MP Cde Buti Manamela in parliament during the latest budget vote of the Presidency. If anyone had doubts about e-NCA and Mail and Guardian being advanced spokespersons of the DA this coverage and attempt to play a gender card is evidence.
To go and rent a discredited and bitter so-called gender activist (read anti-Zuma) in the form of Nomboniso Gasa is even more appalling on the part of e-NCA. E-NCA is not even interested in the actual debate that took place in parliament but is now involved in campaigning against the ANC and particularly its President.
For all its worth, Lindiwe Mazibuko in her debate mentioned all irrelevant things to the debate. But she will be a hero of the Mail and Guardian, e-NCA and bitter elements like Nomboniso because they all live in the pipe dream that they will one day overthrow the ANC government led by Cde Zuma. The SACP has one message to you; the ANC will win the next elections overwhelmingly, your negative coverage notwithstanding. The insinuation that Lindiwe was insulted in parliament is not true. If that was the case, why did the DA and Lindiwe not raise an objection in parliament and ask the Speaker to request Cde Buti Manamela to withdraw and apologise?
The SACP contends there is nothing inherently sexist in the example made by Cde Manamela in parliament when he sought to explain how opportunistically the opposition blamed the President for things he didn't have control of and indeed it is true that the President doesn't choose Lindiwe Mazibuko's clothes. This has nothing to do with being a man or a woman but with the fact that Lindiwe Mazibuko leads the opposition in parliament, an opposition that has resorted to a blame game.
Lindiwe Mazibuko is nothing else but a disrespectful kid who has used every single parliamentary debate to treat the President with disrespect and with a condescending attitude. Her level of disrespect has reached completely unacceptable levels. Cde Zuma besides being president is an elderly citizen and struggle hero who deserves to be treated with respect especially by young ones like Lindiwe.
