ANC YOUTH LEAGUE DISMISSES SATURDAY STAR'S MISREPRESENTATION OF WHAT ANC YL PRESIDENT JULIUS MALEMA SAID IN A MINI-RALLY IN BLOEMFONTEIN.
07 January 2012
The ANC Youth League dismisses the Saturday Star's misrepresentation of what ANC Youth League President said at the ANC YL mini-rally in the Free State on Friday the 6th of January 2012. In their report, the Saturday Star claims that ANC YL President Julius Malema said ANC leaders are baboons (see report).
This is not the case because there is nowhere in the address by ANC YL President where he made such remarks. ANC YL President addressed the rally in SiPedi and the Journalist who wrote the story does not have even the slightest understanding of the language the President was using. She instead relied on a lousy interpretation of a bystander on what the President was saying.
Due to lack of professionalism and ethical conduct, the Journalist did not even care to ask from the official representatives of the ANC Youth League on what was said. Under no circumstance can ANC YL President said ANC leaders are baboons, and he would never make such a remark. What is disgusting is that these Journalists make misrepresentations even after they were cautioned by ANC NEC Member Fikile Mbalula that they should spread lies during his address to the mini-rally in Thaba Nchu.
The ANC YL demands an immediate retraction by the Saturday Star of all their allegations and misrepresentation of what the President said. The ANC YL will soon follow all legal options to get an immediate retraction from the Saturday Star.
