MALEMA STATEMENTS IRRESPONSIBLE

The FF Plus Youth views Julius Malema's call on black people "to have as many children as is possible" as being irresponsible (see City Press report).

"A leader which make statements like this in the midst of the current socio-economic circumstances in which South Africa finds itself has no clue about reality," Jan van Niekerk, FF Plus Youth leader said.

On the one hand the ANCYL wants to address the unemployment crisis through nationalisation but on the other hand it is not taken into account that an increase in the population will contribute to an increase in unemployment. Social grants are already paralysing state coffers and in particular taxpayers who are already over-burdened.

The FF Plus is of the opinion that job opportunities can be created by the private sector if the government creates a positive climate for it. The proposed labour legislation which only grants an increasing number of rights to workers and irresponsible comments by Malema, senior ANC politicians and the ANCYL play a negative role in this regard and will rather have a loss in employment opportunities as a result.

"More children, as propagated by Malema, will have a revolution of poverty, famine and unemployment as a result," van Niekerk reiterated.
