Media24's apology for apartheid role rings hollow - COSATU WCape

COSATU Western Cape rejects Media 24 Apology

3 August 2015

The apology from Media 24 for their support of racist policies and Apartheid in the past rings hollow and is rejected by COSATU Western Cape (see News24 report).

Media 24 still treats black workers at the paper with disdain and many of their articles in their publications are against transformation.

For the company to claim that they are sorry about their support for Apartheid in the past, it must be accompanied by some action to show that they have really reformed.

We cannot accept an apology that is contradicted by the all the key indicators of transformation in the Company.

We will be monitoring the Company and keep insisting that the indicators of transformation moving in a positive direction would be a better indicator of regret at being Apartheid promoters.
