AfriForum: Mkhize only one ‘shocked’ about son’s involvement in Digital Vibes scandal
21 October 2021
The civil rights organisation AfriForum today responded on the former Minister of Health Zweli Mkhize’s attempts to have the damning evidence against him set aside.
The Special Investigating Unit found in a report on corruption in which Mkhize was involved that a contract worth R150 million had been illegally awarded to the media agency Digital Vibes. Mkhize’s son also reportedly received about R3.8 million.
Mkhize also told media that he was shocked to learn about his son Dedani Mkhize’s involvement in this scandal as their relationship is strained.
“I think Mkhize is underestimating the public’s intelligence if he thinks that anyone would believe that he was unaware of his son’s involvement. He is clearly the only one who is shocked,” says Jacques Broodryk, AfriForum’s Campaign Manager.
