Motshekga declines DA offer to assist with textbook delivery

Mmusi Maimane says the party's offer nonetheless still stands

Minister Motshekga declines DA offer of fleet to deliver textbooks

Education Minister Angie Motshekga has formally declined the DA's offer of a fleet of vehicles to deliver textbooks to Limpopo schoolchildren who have been without books for seven months.

Our offer to the Minister still stands: the DA can have these vehicles ready to deliver books in every Limpopo education district within 48 hours. We will do it at our own cost.

Books still need to be transported from Polokwane to yet more warehouses in five Limpopo education districts. Only then can the books be delivered to the 5 000 schools without textbooks.

The Department is already seven months behind schedule. The Minister should be doing all she can to deliver the textbooks without delay, including accepting the DA's offer to assist. Instead, she is defending her own pride at the expense of Limpopo's children.
