NHI Bill referred to Portfolio Committee on Health

The Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Health, Dr Sibongiseni Dhlomo, has confirmed that the National Health Insurance (NHI) Bill, which was tabled last week in Parliament, has now been forwarded to the Chairperson.

Dr Dhlomo said the committee will meet and discuss the programme of the NHI Bill, which will have an extensive public consultation process.

Under the NHI, the government will provide a package of comprehensive health services for free at private and public health facilities as part of its bid to provide more equitable access to quality healthcare.
