ANC condemns rumour-mongering in today Observer Newspaper

The African National Congress in Limpopo dismisses with contempt the rumours as reported by today's provincially based Observer newspaper alleging the ‘removal' of Comrade Cassel Mathale as Premier of Limpopo Province.

The ANC is also disappointed, but not surprised that Observer published such a story based on pure rumours. This is a reflection of shoddy journalism the Limpopo province is subjected to.

The decision to deploy ANC Premiers is based on the recommendation of the ANC Provincial Executive Committee and endorsed by the ANC National Executive Committee. At no stage has the PEC or NEC ever considered such a decision to remove Cde Cassel Mathale as our Premier. And none of our ANC structures is about to do so.

These are rumours from rumourmongers only known to Observer Newspaper and they are aimed at defocusing the ANC and its leadership from carrying out its electoral mandate from our people.

The ANC wants to reiterate its utmost support behind the leadership of comrade Cassel Mathale as both the premier and ANC Provincial Chairperson of the organization and his leadership collective.

The organization has its vision set on building a credible local government structure after the people of Limpopo gave it a resounding above 80 percent victory to lead the Province a week ago.

Rumourmongering will not detract us from transforming the conditions of our people, including providing deliver basic services to our people under the leadership of Comrade Cassel Mathale.
