The final report on the forensic investigation into Oudtshoorn municipality has been handed over to Anton Bredell, the Minister of Local Government, Environmental Affairs and Development Planning in the Western Cape.
Bredell says the report, consisting of eight lever arch files, follows the independent investigation that was instituted in 2015 into the Oudtshoorn municipality.
The municipality was placed under administration in July 2015.
“The investigation found and investigated 132 contraventions, mostly pertaining to the Municipal Finance Management Act, as well as municipal policies and legislation. Included in these contraventions are 2 cases of corruption and 8 cases of fraud, including evidence of falsification of documents in some instances.”
