Patients forced to buy their own toilet paper at Tembisa Hospital - Jack Bloom

DA MPL says shortages the result of the dept of health still failing to pay suppliers on time

PATIENTS BUY OWN TOILET PAPER AT TEMBISA HOSPITAL

I am appalled by the report today that patients have to buy their own bread and toilet paper at the Tembisa Hospital on the east rand.

Earlier this month there was a food shortage at the Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital, and other Gauteng hospitals have also run short of food and supplies.

This is because unpaid suppliers are refusing to deliver.

The Gauteng Health Department claims that all suppliers have been paid, but this is evidently not true.

I still get desperate companies contacting me to assist with payments.

The department must be honest about its continuing failure to pay companies in a timely manner, and fix this as soon as possible.
