People of province have spoken - ANC NWest

Party says it is elated and humbled by its overwhelming by-election victories, including in Tlokwe

ANC NORTH WEST STATEMENT ON BY- ELECTIONS

The African National Congress in the North West is elated and humbled by the overwhelming victory obtained in the by-elections, held today, the 07th August 2013 in various wards of our province.

Our victory is a demonstration that the ANC remains rooted on the ground and that its strength resides in its mass base. Our victory sets the tone for all efforts aimed at reclaiming Tlokwe through a democratic and credible process based on the will of the people.

The people of the North West province and Tlokwe in particular have spoken through their ballot, that the ANC is a revolutionary organisation that represented their aspiration in the past; it represents their aspiration now and will in the future.  Indeed, the ANC remains the undisputed property of the people of South Africa and the outcomes of these by-elections are a testament of this unquestionable reality.

We note the setback suffered in Ward 4 in Mahikeng, where we lost to an independent candidate. The ANC shall in the aftermath of this outcome engage the residents of this ward to reflect on this development and assure them of an unending ANC support.

We wish to thank all those who reaffirmed their confidence in the ANC, in its ability to create a better, prosperous South Africa

The ANC leads as follows:

Tlokwe Ward 9 - 735

Rustenburg Ward 19 - 1304

Ramotshere Moiloa Ward 14 - 760
