DA to continue its brand of good governance in Midvaal

16 November 2021

The Democratic Alliance (DA) is delighted to announce the election of Peter Teixeira as the new Executive Mayor of Midvaal Local Municipality.

Mayor Teixeira, together with other councillors, were sworn in today during the first Council meeting following the Local Government Elections which took place on 1 November 2021. See attached photos herehere and here.

In addition, the following positions have been filled:

Municipal Speaker: Cllr Alan McLoughlin
DA Caucus Whip: Cllr Phil Pretorius

The DA wishes to thank the people of Midvaal who have trusted us with five more years to bring good governance.

The DA was able to increase support from 59% in 2016 to 63% in this year’s elections retaining all our wards and winning one ward from the ANC.

Under a DA-led government, Midvaal has become the best-run municipality in Gauteng and amongst the top five in the whole country. We received seven consecutive clean audits and have the lowest unemployment rate in the province.

We will continue to build on the good work we have done and commit to taking things to the next level to ensure that all residents continue to experience uninterrupted and quality service delivery.
