Pieter Mulder's Christmas Message 2011

FF+ leader says South Africans must learn not to put their turst in princes

Dr. Pieter Mulder: FF Plus Leader and Deputy Minister

Christmas Message 2011

Another year has passed too quickly.

A year in which the pendulum had swung from side to side between hope and despondency. South Africa's problems often seemed just too big and unsolvable.

Christmas speaks to all of us in our quest for answers to al these problems.

Some people search for solutions in their own strength. "We will not take this," they say - and then they talk about war and violence.

Others look for solutions in their own economic power. They can make a mess of the country, with my money and my investments I am protected and they cannot hurt me. Others place their trust in human leaders. They wait for the great Moses-leader which has to come and they believe he/she will fix everything overnight with a magic formula.

When will we learn the Bible lesson to not trust in princes? Ps. 146 puts it so nicely when it is written that one should not put your trust in man. His breath leaves him and his plans are lost. It is well with the person who puts his trust in the Lord.

Two thousand years ago, God with one movement, through the birth of Christ sends the world in a totally different direction. What a comfort that the future does not have to be carved out by us on our own - but it is in His hands. With one movement He can make everything new and different overnight - also for us in South Africa. What a strong and comforting message.

But at the end of the year it is also time to say thank you. The FF Plus is grateful for its loyal supporters who proudly support our Christian and minority rights approach with self-determination solutions. They understand what it really is about in South Africa and have helped to make this year a success.

We are also grateful for the role the media has played this past year. They were prepared to help the FF Plus as opposition party to fearlessly reveal corruption and maladministration while they also supported our participation on the highest political levels.

Without this approach South Africa will gradually begin to move in the direction of many African states. States which call themselves democratic but where no newspaper or politician is allowed to differ from the government or be given any participation. This is the risk of the proposed Information Bill.

I wish you a Blessed Christmas and a prosperous New Year. As instruments in God's hands, we at the FF Plus, will do our best to, on ground level, in Parliament and on Cabinet level, make the New Year a better year for everyone. May we receive the power and wisdom to do this.
