JOHANNESBURG (Sapa) - The DA in Mpumalanga on Thursday called on the provincial government to repair the roads, after Cope leader Prudence Madonsela was injured in a road accident.
DA provincial chief whip Velly Manzini said they were returning from site visits in Piet Retief on Wednesday, when they hit a giant pothole on the Badplaas road near Vygeboom dam.
He said he was the first to hit the pothole and his car was damaged, Madonsela had stopped at a filling station and was driving few kilometres behind him.
"Honourable Mrs Madonsela was not as lucky, she hit the pothole and rolled her car. She was transported to the Barberton Medi-Clinic where she is currently receiving treatment for her injuries."
"The MEC for roads and transport will have blood on his hands should a motorist be killed in an accident due to the poor conditions of Mpumalanga roads," he said.
He said he had tried to phone Madonsela to warn her about the pothole but her phone was switched off. Click here to sign up to receive our free daily headline email newsletter
