ANC YOUTH LEAGUE WANTS A STABLE ECONOMY
The ANC Youth League notes with great concern fracas between Comrade Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan and the Hawks. We believe that no one can be assumed guilty before he has been afforded a chance to prove his innocence. Thus, we believe that in-time Comrade Pravin Gordhan will be cleared of the purported charges.
For this to happen, we urge Comrade Pravin Gordhan to remember that he is no ordinary citizen as he is charged with the responsibility to oversee our Republic’s Treasury. Thus, we ask him to cooperate fully with the Hawks in their investigation and we will be happy if he can show leadership by adhering to the Hawks’ request to meet him to avoid unnecessary drama and strain to our currency.
Financial Markets are very speculative and are skeptical of something indecisive that remains hanging. As the ANC Youth League, we call on all those who are involved in this investigation to reduce public spats and engage in a manner that any other citizen would have been treated and responded. The whole world is taking note of the developments. The confidence they have in our country’s economic resilience will be compromised if no-one is level headed.
The rand on Wednesday dropped by more than 3% against the dollar as the world heard of the fracas between the Hawks and Minister of Finance. Comrade Pravin Gordhan should reassure investors that the South African Treasury is ran by a law abiding citizen who is humble and patriotic. If we continue to observe a falling rand and public spats, we will be forced to ask the ANC to provide political guidance for the sake of stabilizing our economy. We want a stable economy that will reduce unemployment rate that is about 25%.
