Public Protector's investigation of e-tolls welcome - Jack Bloom

DA MPL says we need to know if any politicians were enriched in the process

DA WELCOMES PUBLIC PROTECTOR PROBE OF E-TOLLS

The Democratic Alliance welcomes the decision of the Public Protector to conduct a preliminary investigation into complaints of allegations of tender irregularities and improper relationship linking the company that won the E-toll system tender with the Arms Deal company.

This followed the complaints lodged by myself and the Institute for Accountability in South Africa, Adv Paul Hoffman and the recently resigned Chief Executive Officer of SANRAL, Mr Nazir Alli.

I hope that this is a first step towards a wider investigation into all the contracts involved in the e-tolling. We need to know if any high-level politician was unjustly enriched in this process.

The DA will cooperate with the Public Protector in her probe in this matter of high public concern.

It is vitally important that the truth is revealed, with no cover-ups.
