R500k Zuma convoy abuse of public funds - Mmusi Maimane

DA GPC says Tshwane metro cops spent 10 days in Nelspruit after escorting President's convoy to ANC manifesto launch in Mpumalanga

R500k Zuma Convoy abuse of GP public funds

The Tshwane metro police spent R500 000 to escort Jacob Zuma's convoy to the ANC manifesto launch in Mpumalanga last week according to reports today.

This included 10 days stay in Nelspruit for Tshwane metro cops, far away from their jurisdiction.

The metro in fact diverted critical resources and spent money that should be used to ensure the safety of Tshwane residents.

If elected Premier of Gauteng I will immediately review all status-spending on politicians.

In a province and a country that faces a job crisis and terrible poverty, it is unthinkable that excessive amounts of money can be spent by metro's while there is so much need elsewhere.

Provincial government should exercise vigilant oversight on spending in the metros and have zero-tolerance for status-spending at provincial level.

I will also immediately revise the Ministerial Handbook in Gauteng to cut benefits for politicians.

To bring real change to this province and its people, we cannot allow government to direct money away from basic needs to luxurious extravagances.

If elected Premier of this great province I will make job creation my number one priority. I will cut excessive expenditure, crack down on corruption and support a growing economy.
