MINISTER ROBIN CARLISLE JOINS MEMBER OF PUBLIC LAYING CHARGES AGAINST RECKLESS DRIVER
Robin Carlisle, the Minister of Transport and Public Works in the Western Cape, has this morning accompanied Capetonian Terry Debrick to the Paarl Police Station to lay charges of reckless and negligent driving against WC Douwland, the Forest Heights owner of a red Toyota Corolla with the number plate CF66164.
Mr Debrick, whose wife Mary was driving, captured the driver of the car on camera as he crossed a solid line to overtake a car in front of them on Du Toit's Kloof. This was after he had already overtaken the Debricks, also on the solid line. The pictures [four pics attached] show the driver of the red car overtaking on a sharp bend.
‘I have repeatedly made the call to members of the public to record and report incidents of reckless driving and have been very pleased by the Debricks' decision to become actively involved in this crucial aspect of our Safely Home Campaign,' Minister Carlisle said.
‘We want good drivers to report bad drivers before they are able to kill innocent road users, and themselves.
‘But we also want reckless drivers to know that when they are about to do something illegal on the roads, they must look around not only for traffic officers, but also for other motorists, who may very well be taking photos of them, or filming them,' said Carlisle.
