14 June 2024

The Democratic Alliance (DA) in Gauteng welcomes the swearing in of 22 members in the Gauteng Provincial Legislature today, 14 June 2024.

This seventh sitting of Gauteng’s Provincial Legislature is a historic one, both for the residents of Gauteng, and for the DA.

Alongside the leader of the DA in Gauteng, Solly Msimanga MPL, Refiloe Nt’sekhe was sworn in as the Deputy Speaker of the Gauteng Provincial Legislature today. My heartfelt congratulations goes out to her, as this milestone is one that is not easily matched.

Historic change is at the order of the day.

Gauteng is ready to be rescued, and the voters have ensured that we have a mandate that gives us the powers to not only rescue this province, but South Africa at slarge. I would like to congratulate the newly sworn in members of the legislature, as well as our returning members.

As the province enters a time of tumultuous change, our goal is to be the leaders that the province needs, in a time where change is no longer an option, but a necessity.

The oath that our members swore today, is one that comes with an immense responsibility. We do not take this responsibility lightly, nor will we ever.

Gauteng can be assured: the DA’s caucus in the Provincial Legislature is ready to do the work. We are fit for purpose, and we will not rest until our province is turned around.
