Reject the Marikana commission of inquiry - EFF

Fighters' condemn high court decision to deny funding for legal representatives of victims' families (July 19)

EFF REJECTS THE MARIKNA COURT DECISION TO REFUSE REPRESENTATIVES OF THE FAMILIES, WORKERS, AND INJURED FAMILIES FUNDING WHILE FUNDING THOSE WHO COMMITTED THE MASSACRE:

19 July 2013

Economic Freedom Fighters rejects the decision of the Pretoria High Court to deny the representatives of the families of slain and injured mineworkers State funding. The State committed the massacre of defenceless Marikana Mineworkers on the 16th of August 2013, then established a Commission of Inquiry and hired Lawyers to represent the State and the Police in the Commission of Inquiry.

Such actions and decisions are purely nonsensical, and evidence that the State deliberately committed the massacre of Mineworkers, and not planning to hold anyone accountable for such callous deeds. The Marikana Commission is nothing but pure rape of justice by the South African government, which is basically denying Mineworkers fair legal representation by denying their Lawyers funding. Where and how will Mineworkers find legal representation whilst they struggle to get basic services due to low salaries?

EFF call on the people of South Africa to reject the Marikana Commission of Inquiry and seek other means to find justice for the workers massacred in Marikana. There are many ways in which the State and the police should be held accountable for the callous, insensitive and brutal murder of defenceless workers by the police. For how long will the police kill our people and no one is held accountable?

EFF will lead in the means to attain real and sustainable justice to the Mineworkers killed in Marikana, and the National Assembly on What is to be done will give proper guidance on what should be done to attain justice for the slain Mineworkers, because the Commission of Inquiry will not achieve anything meaningful.
