The ANCYL welcomes the special remission granted to former President of the ANC, Comrade Jacob Zuma

The ANCYL has gladly welcomed the special remission granted to former president of the ANC Comrade Jacob Zuma. The remission sentence is granted specially by the President of the country using powers vested in him by the constitution and the Correctional Services Act. To grant remission which effectively means halting the sentence.
The ANCYL had followed the compliance of the former president with authorities which throughout the proceedings of his matter, from the beginning till conclusion today. This was portrayal of a South African citizen that acknowledges the state institutions and respects the rule of law despite standing in society. The remission granted to comrade Jacob Zuma is one that is granted to non-violent offenders; he indeed remains an upstanding member of society.
President Jacob Zuma is a senior citizen of our country who left footprints in the work he did in nation building; this goes back to his times as a freedom fighter that was willing to sacrifice his life for the liberation of all South Africans. He went on to volunteer his expertise in various levels of government, serving the people of South Africa and ensuring that those who were previously marginalized experience transformation.
The release of President Jacob Zuma is soothing to members of the organization, society and his family. This leaves us at ease that the old man can finally rest and enjoy his pension years. It is always a wish of any family that their elderly who has worked hard and tirelessly in their yesteryears reach their senior citizen years in a comfortable space where they enjoy the simple things in life and be in good health.
