Revocation of Waterkloof Two's parole welcome - James Selfe

DA MP says Frikkie du Preez and Christoff Becker will spend another 12 months in prison

DA welcomes Waterkloof duo parole being revoked

The DA welcomes The Parole Board's decision today to revoke the infamous Waterkloof Two's parole. Frikkie du Preez and Christoff Becker will spend another 12 months in prison before they are permitted to re-apply for parole.

Du Preez and Becker were rightfully re-arrested last month after a video of the duo drinking alcohol and partying in their cell at the Kgosi Mampuru prison, in Pretoria surfaced online. In the video, du Preez and Becker's cell appeared to have alcohol, a cellphone and even a computer.

Preferential treatment and contraband are a continuing problem in our correctional centres. The Parole Board's decision illustrates a commitment by the Department of Correctional Services to enforce incarceration conditions without favour.

Hopefully this will send a distinct message to prisoners and parolees alike that anyone who violates these conditions - or their parole - will suffer the consequences.

Statement issued by James Selfe MP, DA Shadow Minister of Correctional Services, February 28 2014
