Mayor offers reward for information on the six Century City killings

It is with grave concern that I have learnt it is now a total of six female decomposed bodies that have been found near the Century City and Acacia Park train stations.

The South African Police Service is still at an early stage in their investigation, as they explore possible links to a serial killer. All the women were found naked, with their hands tied behind their backs. No arrests have been made thus far.

Every life lost to murder is a loss too many. The lives of these six young females have been cut short in senseless acts of brutality. We condemn these murders in the strongest terms possible. There is no place in our society for individuals who enact such violent cruelty.

As residents of Cape Town we should stand up and ensure that the young females have not lost their lives in vain. We must all support the South African Police Service in their pursuit of justice. On behalf of the City of Cape Town, I would like to offer a reward of R50 000 to anyone who can assist the South African Police Service with their investigation.

I would like to appeal to residents to come forward with any information pertaining to these killings that could lead to arrests. Anyone with information should please contact their nearest police station, or call the Kensington police station directly on 021 594 7043.
