Ronald Lamola should be called to order - IFP

Henry Combrinck says ANCYL leader's remarks are putting farmers lives at risk

IFP: RONALD LAMOLA SHOULD BE CALLED INTO ORDER

THE Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) strongly condemns ANC Youth League's Deputy President, Ronald Lamola, who yesterday called for expropriation of land without compensation as well as for the use of force to obtain land.

"The debate on Land ownership is a very sensitive issue and should be appropriately dealt with. If the ANC is serious about unity the land issue must be discussed in a forum with all the relevant and affected stakeholders and not be misinterpreted by the likes of Ronald Lamola," said Honourable Henry Combrinck, Shadow MEC for Land Affairs, Rural Development and Environmental Affairs.

The IFP is very disturbed by the government's failure to adequately deal with land issues which are contributing to the current situation where many people are frustrated and have grown impatient with the slow pace of land reform.  The IFP finds Lamola's remarks totally unacceptable.

"Lamola's remarks are dangerous and encourage violence. There will be an increase in farm attacks, which are already unacceptably high should behaviour such as Lamola's be allowed to continue," said Honourable Combrinck.

The IFP is calling for the ANC to take full responsibility for their actions and realise that their failure to resolve this land issue.
