AfriForum exposes SA government’s racial discrimination in report and presentation to UN’s CERD

27 November 2023

The civil rights organisation AfriForum today delivered a presentation at the headquarters of the United Nation’s (UN) Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (CERD), in Geneva, Switzerland. This was accompanied by a detailed report on the South African government’s 116+ pieces of racial legislation that AfriForum submitted to CERD as well.

In 2023 it is the South African government’s turn to have its record regarding discrimination reviewed by CERD at its 111th session. Both AfriForum’s report and in-person presentation will be considered and utilised by CERD in the process of the committee reviewing South Africa’s record. Ernst van Zyl, AfriForum’s Head of Public Relations delivered the presentation before CERD today.

“The UN body, CERD, has expressed its gratitude for AfriForum’s contributions to the process of reviewing South Africa, in particular the government, regarding discrimination,” says Van Zyl

“The world is taking notice of the South African government’s growing list of racial legislation. Organisations like AfriForum are spearheading the effort to bring the ANC’s race-obsession to light,” Van Zyl concludes.
