SA musicians should boycott Mswati concert - ANCYL

League calls for the isolation of the Swaziland monarchy

THE ANC YOUTH LEAGUE CALLS ON ALL SOUTH AFRICAN ARTISTS TO BOYCOTT MSWATI'S CONCERT IN SWAZILAND:

19 April 2011

The ANC Youth League calls on all patriotic South Africans who love peace and social justice to boycott the Concert of Mswati, happening in Swaziland this coming weekend. We particularly call on all artists invited to Swaziland to boycott the celebration of Mswati's birthday and his son's concert, because it is a celebration of the suffering and starvation of the people of Swaziland by the King, his friends and family.

In Solidarity with people of Swaziland, who are now in an ongoing revolt against the Mswati regime, all South Africans are called upon to stop all businesses and interaction they are doing with the repressive, unethical and inconsiderate Swaziland Royal Family and the puppet government.

The ANC Youth League is aware that some of the artists who were supposed to go to Swaziland to entertain the King, his children and family have already withdrawn and we call all those who have not yet withdrawn to do so immediately. Those who insist doing business with the Swaziland royal family should know that after doing business with Mswati, his friends and family at the expense of the poor people of Swaziland, will never be associated with the ANC Youth League and the ANC. There are many people to entertain in South Africa, instead of people who do not appreciate values of democracy, freedom, peace and social justice.

All Progressive forces of the National Liberation Movement in South Africa, particularly the ANC, COSATU, SACP and the ANC Youth League have called for political freedom, peace, justice and unbanning of political parties in Swaziland. All South Africans should follow suit and isolate the Swaziland Royal family so that they begin to understand that what they are doing is unacceptable and unwelcome in the true traditions of democracy, peace and freedom.

South Africans should particularly appreciate that the political freedom we enjoy today came amongst other things, through the cultural and sporting isolation of the nonsensical apartheid regime. All South Africans should begin to actively isolate the Swaziland Monarchy and illegal oppressive government, and those who work with the regime, will be isolated by peace loving South Africans, particularly the ANC Youth League.
