SACP Gauteng appreciates Jacob Mamabolo's work

SACP Gauteng congratulates Human Settlement, Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs MEC on his first 10 days in office

The SACP in Gauteng Province appreciates the good and revolutionary work already done by the MEC for Human Settlement, Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, comrade Jacob Mamabolo, who is also the Provincial Secretary of the SACP, in his first 10 days in office since his appointment on 23 May 2014.

The SACP welcomes the signals which show movement towards the right direction. First and foremost we welcome the interventions by comrade Mamabolo in many working class and poor communities to confront challenges of human settlement facing our people, head on.

Already by last week, comrade Jacob Mamabolo had intervened on the evictions against the working class and poor in Hilbrow following a court order, as well as visited residents of a property that caught fire in Johannesburg Inner-City.

This week comrade Jacob Mamabolo visited an abandoned residential site in Grootvlei where workers are facing one of the most severe difficulties following the liquidation process of the mine. The SACP is also aware that this week comrade Jacob Mamabolo visited the community of Zithobeni in Bronkhorstspruit. We also commend comrade Mamabolo for keeping his promise to revisit Bekkersdal, this time around in his capacity as the MEC. As if all these interventions were not enough, comrade Mamabolo assisted evicted residents of Alexandra Township in Johannesburg.

SACP has also requested MEC to meet with SAMWU members that were evicted by the City of Johannesburg way back in 1994. We are deeply pleased that MEC Mamabolo has agreed to meet the workers this Sunday at 10h00 in his office.

The SACP is deeply humbled and encouraged by the level of activism shown by comrade Jacob Mamabolo to give our people the ear while ensuring that the government promptly and swiftly engages the people as directed by the Premier of Gauteng, comrade David Makhura.

We have taken liberty to remind comrade Mamabolo of his forthcoming engagements with the people of Lenasia whose houses were demolished in 2012, the evicted people of Newtown, Somalia Park, Elias Motsoaledi, Zamimpilo, Somalia Park and those in various hostels across the province, to mention but a few.

The SACP in the Province is fully behind comrade Mamabolo in his demanding responsibility to drive the government's visions of establishing viable, socially and economically integrated communities which are situated in areas allowing convenient access to economic opportunities.
