SACP meets to discuss organisational renewal, state power and upcoming elections
9 December 2019
The SACP's 4th special national congress (SNC) kicks off on Monday to assess whether it has made progress on some of the resolutions it set out for itself at the 2017 national congress.
The mid-term review will receive numerous reports and updates indicating whether these goals have been achieved. The congress also comes amid attempts to push for the ousting of certain leaders, including general secretary Blade Nzimande.
News24 understands that some SACP members, who already wanted Nzimande removed as general secretary in 2017, will attempt to bring that bid back into sharp focus.
