SACP must reflect on conduct of opposition fascists in parliament - SADTU

Union says congress taking place at a time when revolutionary alliance under attack from right wing, ultra left, populists and demagogues

SADTU wishes the SACP a successful Special Congress

6 July 2015

The South African Democratic Teachers’ Union (SADTU) would like to wish the South African Communist Party (SACP) a successful special congress that begins on Tuesday, 7 July 2015 at the University of Johannesburg.

The Congress is taking place at a time when our revolutionary alliance is under serious attack from the right wing, ultra lefts, populists and demagogues supported by the liberal media in our country. It is convened a week after a very successful Alliance Summit that prioritized organizational discipline, unity and respect for all our structures and policies.

The Congress is convening at a time when privatisation and commercialization in and of education is increasing in our continent in general and in our country in particular. This profit making edubusiness is supported by the PIC using the public servants savings. The PIC is unashamedly investing in Curro racist school and Woolworths.

The Congress will have to reflect on the conduct of fascists represented by the opposition in parliament.

We hope this special congress will continue with the Party’s tradition of engaging in frank and robust debates and come up with resolutions that are full of depth, giving credence to the party’s vanguard role to pursue the National Democratic Revolution – our minimum programme, as the route to socialism.

We eagerly wait to receive the line of march from the only vanguard party as we prepare for the special congress of our Federation which has a special focus on unity and cohesion.
