SACP NWest backs provincial name change

PEC also supports move to ban public servants from doing business with the state

SACP North West PEC Lekgotla Statement

The NW SACP PEC Lekgotla that took place on the 16-17 February 2013 at Mahikeng, which was addressed by the 2nd Deputy General Secretary of the SACP Cde Solly Mapaila, received a report on the state of the SACP and its alliance partners. Inputs were received from the alliance partners, COSATU and ANC. The meeting also received a report on progress made by government on the five priorities on the ANC manifesto.

The SACP in the province welcome the STATE of the nation address presented to the nation by the State President of the Republic Honorable Jacob Zuma. In particular we are humbled by the attitude of ANC government towards the eradication of poverty, inequality and joblessness.

However, we appreciate that more still needs to be done given the backlog of the long years of the brut regime of apartheid. We therefore expect the government of the north west during the state of the province address, to instill confidence that the ANC led government will hasten delivery of services on the five priorities by government to eradicate the triple enemies of the working class i.e. poverty, inequality and joblessness.

Corruption within the state has over the years compromised service delivery to the poorest of the poor, the working class in our rural province. At the center of this corruption is the tender system. We support the ANC position in the province that the state must review the tender system.

We further support the proposed amendment to the public service act by the minister of public service and administration to bar public servants from being active business members and that those who are to be found guilty should be blacklisted from the employ of the state.

We also welcome the decision by government to establish the presidential commission to look into the remuneration of public servants.

We congratulate the swift action of the police on the arrest of those alleged to have a hand in the killing of the Regional Secretary of the ANC in Kenneth Kaunda and call on justice to prevail.

The decision by the ANC in the province to rename the North West province to one of the greatest revolutionaries ever, Cde Moses Kotane is most welcome and supported by the SACP in the province and call upon our members and the South African society to support this noble decision.

This August meeting further resolved to support the ANC in the next general elections and will travel all corners of the North West towards the overwhelming victory of the ANC in the province and increase from the previous performance. We are confident that the ANC is the only organisation that is capable of responding to the challenges of the day as identified.

As part of the renewal of our organizations the SACP in the province will be launching the Jose Marti communist university, as part of the contribution to ideological work in building a new cadre in this province in particular, the SACP we will be interacting with the republic of Cuba to inform them of this decision and to ask for their permission about its revolutionary. The launch of the university will be during the Chris Hani month.

The augmented central committee of the SACP that took place in November declared 2013 as the year of the district and that education shall be our focus area. It is within this understanding that the SACP will give education the attention it deserves.

We therefore call on the individual's working in the relevant departments to refuse to compromise the education of the children of the working class. At the same time we call upon the government to do same.

The districts of the SACP will interact with all stakeholders throughout 2013 to make sure that this revolutionary task of educating our children is not compromised. To this end we call on government to declare none attendance of a school going age child by any child an offense and that the necessary human and material resource should be mobilized to realize this objective including legislation.

The province has agreed on a vigorous organizing and recruitment program to increase the membership of the SACP in the province by 10% annually. A special focus will be on mining and farming. Marikana and the surrounding areas that were affected by violence to make sure that ground lost by the revolutionary alliance in the area is regained must receive special and urgent attention.

Violence against women and children in the country has reached alarming proportions, the recent being with the violent being the murder of Reeva on the 14th February. It is within this understanding that the SACP supports the call by the minster that these cases must receive urgent through he establishment of specialized courts in order to facilitate the speedy conclusion of cases.

At the same time we call upon our communities to protect its women and children against these hyenas that are against humanity.
