Declaration of the SACP Western Cape Provincial Council held on the 18 March 2012, at Entsebenziswano High School
SUNDAY, 18 MARCH 2012
The SACP in the Western Cape held its 2nd Provincial Council on the 17 March 2012, which was attended by SACP branches, Districts, Young Communist League and Provincial Executive Committee members. The council dealt with amongst other things, the Political Report and Programme of Action, with the Political Input from the General Secretary of the SACP, and issues arising out of the Provincial Executive Committee Lekgotla held on the 11-12 February 2012.
On the ANC Centenary: the Provincial Council expresses its appreciation and gratitude to the African National Congress's achievement of 100 years of unblemished revolutionary record of existence and being the leader of our revolutionary alliance. The SACP will continue to be in the trenches with the African National Congress in the struggle to advance, deepen and defend the national democratic revolution to achieve socialism. SACP members across the province will continue to honor and be part of the ANC Centenary celebrations until the celebration of the last President in December 2012, who is the incumbent - President Jacob Zuma.
On Good Hope Centre ill-discipline: The Provincial Council condemns the spoilt and clamorous attitude displayed during the address by the President of the ANC and the Republic of South Africa, Comrade Jacob Zuma in Good Hope Centre by few individuals who have no interests in the revolutionary morality of the ANC. We agree with 2010 ANC National General Council Discussion Document - Tasks of Organisation-Building and Renewal that "culture of our movement is getting eroded at frightening pace and that the situation is a grave emergency that requires decisive action and extra-ordinary measures".We will support all measures taken by the ANC to protect the image and integrity of our revolutionary movement and its leadership. We are indeed convinced that this is the work sponsored by the New Tendency which is hell-bent to loot our revolution for narrow accumulation interests. The SACP as the trusted and tested revolutionary ally of the African National Congress has the responsibility to advance and defend the revolutionary integrity and morality of our movement, we will continue doing so with no intention to interfere with the ANC process, hence our call to the ANC Provincial Executive Committee to make the outcomes of its investigation public as soon as possible.
On 2012 Programme of Action: The Provincial Council reaffirmed SACP's commitment to continue being guided by our Medium Term Vision (MTV) as contained in our programme "The South African Road to Socialism". This programme seeks to intensify struggles to build working class hegemony in the state, the economy, the workplace, the community, ideology and in the international arena. Our road to socialism is consolidating, advancing and deepening a working class-led, socialist oriented national democratic revolution, whose immediate programme is guided by the emancipatory values of the Freedom Charter.
