SADTU, ANCWL hold prayer meeting against Satanism in Sebokeng

Community appeals for return of religion to schools, vows to vote for ANC in the upcoming elections

Sebokeng community unites against Satanism and guarantees a vote for ANC

The South African Democratic Teachers' Union (SADTU), the ANC Women's League (ANCWL), Church leaders and the community of Sebokeng Township's Zone 10 in Sedibeng held a successful prayer against Satanism in schools yesterday. The community also vowed to vote for the ANC in the upcoming national general elections.

Addressing the meeting SADTU General Secretary pointed out that violence, which at times was caused by Satanism, was a huge cost to our education.

"Possessed children are violent, aggressive and hard to discipline, as a result, some children chose not to come to school because they are traumatized by the actions of those possessed," Mugwena said.

Worse of all, learners are killed as part of the rituals practiced in Satanism.

ANCWL President and Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga gave the people an opportunity to raise their concerns about Satanism, violence, drugs in schools and to suggest solutions.

Many blamed the abolition of religious practices such as prayers in schools for the rise of Satanism and called on the Minister and Government to bring back religion.

Lack of sporting facilities and absent teachers was also raised as some of the factors that led learners to engage in drugs and Satanism.

Some thanked the government for the positive changes in schools such as free education, scholar transport, meals and empowered school governing bodies.

In reply to the concerns raised by the community, Motshekga suggested that summit on religion should be convened to look further into the matter.

She also promised to look into the matter of sporting facilities in schools.

Church leaders led the meeting in prayers rebuking Satanism and asked God for peaceful elections.
