SADTU jobs for cash scandal at Oakdale Secondary School - Khume Ramulifho

DA says complaint was sent by chairperson claiming he was influenced by union representative

SADTU jobs for cash scandal at Oakdale Secondary School

24 November 2016

The DA has been reliably informed of a jobs for cash scandal at Oakdale Secondary School in Ennerdale, Johannesburg.

A complaint was sent to the Gauteng Department of Education (GDE) by the School Governing Body (SGB) Chairperson in August this year alleging that he was unduly influenced by a SADTU union representative to score a certain candidate for the position of principal highly in order to get the job.

The SGB Chairperson’s signature was illegally used to appoint teachers and the school principal.

The SGB Chairperson recorded conversations of union representatives whom visited him at his house several times to bribe and influence him in how to score the principal candidates.

(An audio recording as well as a dossier of information is available upon request).

The GDE concluded that the appointment of the school principal should be redone in August this year, yet to date the school is still without a principal.

The GDE failed to act on the claims of a jobs for cash scandal by SADTU.

The DA will interrogate MEC Lesufi over the alleged “cash for jobs scandal” on Tuesday 29 November 2016 sitting in the Gauteng Legislature.

This is simply one example of how SADTU has captured the GDE in promising jobs to underqualified candidates in return for money.

If this is not dealt with promptly, learners across the province will have their futures compromised by fraudsters seeking to abuse the system.
