REACTION BY THE SOUTH AFRICAN NATIONAL DEFENCE UNION ON THE LATEST REVELATIONS REGARDING AUTHORISATION OF THE GUPTA WEDDING GUEST FLIGHT AND THE SUSPENSION OF SANDF MEMBERS
New documentary evidence has now surfaced which show that the internal authorisation channels of the SANDF, as early as February 2013 knew and approved of the Gupta wedding guest flight landing at Waterkloof AFB. According to these reports the authorisation is identified by a specific SANDF authorisation number (see M&G Online report).
SANDU has attended the legal consultations between Lt Col Anderson, one of the suspended SANDF members in this fiasco, earlier today and confirms that the documents presented at the consultation confirm the authenticity of the internal authorisation number revealed in the media.
SANDU also confirms that Lt Col Anderson has appointed an attorney through SANDU to deal with the matter of a planned Board of Inquiry by the SA Air Force in so far as it will involve Anderson. It is clear from the initial consultation and the revelations now in the media, that indeed the SANDF has jumped the gun in its suspension of the members concerned and stand to be publicly embarrassed should all available evidence be revealed during subsequent processes.
All SANDF suspended members at all relevant times acted within the full scope of their duties and based on valid authorisations obtained from higher command structures and processes.
