SASCO rolls over DASO in SRC elections - SASCO

Congress says it has secured victories at UFS, UNIZULU, TUT, Wits, CUT and NWU

The unstoppable SASCO tsunami!

10 September 2013

The South African Students Congress (SASCO) enjoys massive and popular student support in the post-schooling sector. South African students continue to show high levels of confidence in SASCO. This is demonstrated by the overwhelming victories in the recent SRC elections (UFS, Wits, CUT, UniZULU, TUT, NWU). We have thus far roundly defeated the Democratic Alliance Student Organisation (DASO), PASMA, NASMO and many other useless and insignificant political molecules. SASCO has once more proven itself as a dependable and trusted political force in higher education and further training.

SASCO has hitherto taken over the Students Representatives Councils (SRCs) at the University of Free State (UFS), University of Zululand (UNIZULU), Tshwane University of Technology (TUT), University of the Witwatersrand (Wits), the Central University of Technology and North West University (Vaal and Mafikeng campuses). SASCO also continues to enjoy majority hegemony in the Further Education Training (FET) colleges. We are confident that the SASCO tsunami is unstoppable as we prepare for remaining SRC elections. We declare with extraordinary confidence that SASCO will be in charge of majority SRC's in institutions of higher learning and further training in the Republic of South Africa.

We have done very well thus far against a highly funded opposition from the useless political molecules posing as student organisations. We know that the Democratic Alliance (DA), IFP and other reactionary opposition parties are trying very hard without success to use institutions of higher learning as a launching pad for the 2014 general elections. We also know that Zionist forces linked to the murderous Apartheid Israeli regime invested a lot of resources to take over the SRC at Wits University. We are proud that we have gained hegemony in the University of Free State-a conservative and untransformed university. We are also thrilled to have defeated management-sponsored ‘independent' candidates at CUT.

SASCO's continued hegemony in institutions of higher learning and further training is a precursor for the ANC's decisive and overwhelming victory in the 2014 general elections. SASCO will continue to work very hard to ensure that majority South African students vote for the capable and dependable African National Congress (ANC) in the general elections. We will continue to work together and deepen unity with the Young Communist League of South Africa (YCL SA) and the African National Congress Youth League (ANC YL) in institutions of higher learning and training.
