The decision to release our brother Schabir on medical parole was taken by the Correctional Supervision and Parole Board.  All queries on this matter should therefore be referred to this board and to the Department of Correctional Services.

Our brother is ill and the family requests that we be allowed the space to take care of him. We will therefore not be available for interviews on this matter.

We however wish to acknowledge the support of comrades and friends during the long journey of Schabir's trial and imprisonment. Our greatest need now is for peace and we humbly appeal to the media to respect our wishes.
