Special Investigating Unit defends civil suit instituted by Ndabezinhle Sibiya

27 October 2021

The Special Investigating Unit (SIU) will defend the civil suit instituted by government spokesperson Ndabezinhle Sibiya, in which he is suing the SIU for R500 000 in damages.

The SIU has noted publication of an article on IOL, Independent Media news website, where amongst others it stated the SIU admitted that it erred and withdrawn its allegation that Mr. Sibiya benefitted from the controversial Digital Vibes communication tender awarded by the National Department of Health.

The SIU has not, at any stage, stated that Mr. Sibiya benefited from the Digital Vibes communications tender.

Therefore, the SIU rejects with contempt the assertion that it conducted a shoddy work in investigating the communication tender and misled the President.

As the matter is deemed sub judice, the SIU cannot comment any further on this matter except to say that the SIU will be defending the civil suit instituted by Mr. Sibiya at the Special Tribunal.
