Nursery school in Diepsloot to get makeover

Communities should reach out to each other - Solidarity

The Solidarity Movement (Solidarity, AfriForum, Helping Hand and the technical college, Sol-Tech) will give a nursery school in Diepsloot, Johannesburg a makeover this Wednesday.

Students of Solidarity's technical college, Sol-Tech, and employees of the Solidarity Movement will roll up their sleeves to renovate the Golden Seed Nursery School.

The renovations will involve giving the school a new coat of paint, putting up a pent roof and installing a new ceiling and electrical wiring. The students also plan on doing the necessary maintenance and repairs to the plumbing.

"The time has come for communities to reach out to each other," explained Dirk Hermann, Deputy General Secretary of Solidarity. "The Solidarity Movement is involved in several upliftment projects focussing mainly on impoverished white and Afrikaans communities that are already bearing fruit. By sharing our best practices and models with other communities, we can start to tackle poverty and crime and thereby ensure a better future for ourselves. We want to encourage communities to share best practices with each other and to develop more insight into each other's problems. We invite community organisations in traditionally black impoverished communities to share their best practices with us as well," he added.
