ANC statement on DA racism
The African National Congress applauds the work done by our comrades in Parliament, most notably ANC MP Comrade Buti Manamela for exposing the racist and unrepentant Democratic Alliance councillor in the Eastern Cape, one Stanford Slabbert (see PE Herald report).
The attitude and arrogance displayed by Slabbert against black people is characteristic of the DA and had it not have been exposed by the ANC during the Presidency's Budget Vote debate last week, it like many others would have gone unnoticed, unpunished and acceptable within the DA. The DA continues to treat black people like second-class citizens as demonstrated time and again in Cape Town and in Midvaal.
They have even stooped to the level of insulting and indeed undermining their intellectual capacity through their ineffectual attempts to rewrite history. The hypocrisy of the DA knows no bounds as demonstrated by the treatment of farm workers in the Western Cape.
The ANC calls upon all South Africans to emulate this fearless spirit, ensuring wherever the DA continues to its attempt to undermine and insult our people, they are exposed for the fraud they are and their unwillingness to accept equality with blacks in general and Africans in particular in pursuit of a common nationhood. The only difference between Slabbert and all other racist leaders of the DA is that he was found out.
