Thandi Modise should take a leaf from Pieter Mulder's book - Pieter Groenewald

FF+ MP says there is no obligation to buy a new vehicle once existing one has exceeded 120,000 kms

Thandi Modise should follow Pieter Mulder's example with purchase of vehicle

"The premiere of Northwest, Thandi Modise's justification for the purchasing of a new official vehicle valued at R1,3 million is not acceptable (see report). To allege that the old vehicle had already travelled 120 000 km and that she was therefore obliged to purchase a new vehicle is not true. The deputy minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Dr. Pieter Mulder's vehicle has also travelled far more than 120 000 kilometres, but he still drives with it. Dr. Mulder has also instructed the department not to purchase a new vehicle. Modise should follow Mulder's example," Dr. Pieter Groenewald (MP), the provincial leader of the Freedom Front Plus in Northwest says.

"It is also seriously doubted whether Modise will be returning as the premier of Northwest following the national elections this year and the new premier will want to purchase a new vehicle. This means that Modise has purchased a R1,3 million vehicle for her use for, at the most, five months. This is nothing other than a contempt of taxpayer's money and the abuse thereof for an unnecessary luxury. The purchase of the vehicle should be cancelled immediately," Groenewald said.
